Mining sector may provide benefits to the development of central and regional levels by increasing its economic growth, reducing poverty, and improving welfare. However, it may have a potential to cause adverse impact ll'hen it is not managed properly, namely resource curse phenomenon. To analyze the potency resource curse, tl11s paper studies the utilization of mineral and coal resources in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) and South Kalimantan Provinces in Indonesia. Granger Causality analysis is carried out by taking into account the relation between Gross Domestic Regional Product (GDRP) from mining sector and other regional economic variables. This study indicates the potency of resource curse in the two provinces as there is no direct or bi-directional causality between mining sector and manufacturing sector.
