Particular focus is given to how HGTV relates to media convergence and design branding in the U.S. Additional topics discussed include the network's devotion to home improvement, how HGTV relates to consumerism and defines what is desirable to homeowners, and the diversity of families depicted on the network. The HGTV Dream Home contest is also explored.
