Indonesia is implementing Carbon Capture and Storage/Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCS/CCUS) technology to reduce carbon emissions in the energy sector. CCS/CCUS is one of the global warming mitigation methods that aims to reduce CO? emissions into the atmosphere. In this study, Well-X was designed to inject CO? to be stored in the Ngrayong Formation, which consists of sandstone lithology at a depth of 854-862m. However, before injection operations can be carried out, Well-X needs to be evaluated and improved to meet the applicable technical standards for optimal operations.
This research discusses the well integrity evaluation that focuses on the leakage that occurred in the well-X through the interpretation of Noise Log data. This evaluation aims to prevent potential leakage of CO? to the surface. The methods used include analyzing Noise log data by looking at amplitude and frequency spectrum and combining with other logging tools analysis such as temperature logs and production logs.
Based on the interpretation of noise log data, it was found that there are several leaking points in the well-X, characterised by fluctuating amplitude and high frequency spectrum. Although radial location beamforming could not determine the leaking point, CBL-VDL log data showed indications of poor cement bond, therefore, remedial cementing was required at several points to improve well integrity.
