Dielectric loss quantifies the dielectric materials
inherent dissipation of electric energy in electric power systems.
This paper focuses on controlling in the dielectric loss behavior of
the Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC); it has been widely used as
insulators in electrical power systems and power devices.
Nanocomposites specimens of polyvinyl chloride have been
fabricated with variant concentrations of nanoparticles
(Clay, SiO2, ZnO, and TiO2). The dielectric loss and electric
properties of pure and nanocomposites specimens for polyvinyl
chloride has been measured at different frequencies (10-2Hz-
103Hz) and temperatures (20°C-80°C). The dielectric loss of
polyvinyl chloride nanocomposites has been minimized and
controlled using certain types and concentrations of
nanoparticles.
