The Government of Indonesia, through SKK Migas, has set a target to increase national oil and gas production to 1 million BOPD for oil and 12 BSCFD for gas by 2030. One of the strategies considered effective in supporting this target is the reactivation of idle wells in mature fields, which is economically more efficient compared to drilling new wells. This study aims to evaluate and identify idle well candidates that are feasible for reactivation through an integrated approach based on historical production data. Conventional methods such as the Heterogeneity Index (HI), which assess well performance through parameters like HI Well Performance, HI Cumulative, and HI Last Rate, are often used separately. To improve evaluation accuracy, this research proposes a new method called Triple-HI, which combines these three parameters into a classification matrix consisting of 64 combinations. Each combination is categorized into four recommendation levels: Optimal, Low Effort, High Effort, and Not Recommended. The method was applied to 117 idle wells in the TM field, particularly in the TM4 reservoir zone. As a result, eight wells were identified as optimal candidates for reactivation. Further evaluation using the Reservoir Quality Index (RQI) and Estimated Ultimate Recovery (EUR) highlighted two top candidates, OP179 and OP184, with volumetric EUR estimates of 1,115.35 MSTB and 3,750.82 MSTB, respectively. Artificial lift optimization led to a 71% increase in production rate for OP179, while OP184 was already operating under optimal production conditions. The Triple-HI method has proven effective in assessing idle well reactivation feasibility by integrating historical production behavior with reservoir quality indicators.
