The Indonesian government’s implementation of Euro 4 emission standards has set strict requirements for vehicle exhaust emissions. This study examines injector fouling in modern diesel engines, focusing on the effectiveness of deposit control additives (DCAs) in maintaining injector cleanliness and ensuring compliance with these standards. Using the CEC F-98-08 standard test method on a PSA DW10BTED4 2.0L engine, the research compared the performance of a base diesel fuel with and without a DCA. The study measured changes in rated engine power to assess injector fouling and its impact on performance. The results indicated that the base fuel without additives suffered a power loss of 6.94% by the end of the test, while the fuel with DCA achieved a power gain of 2.13%, demonstrating the additive's effectiveness. These findings emphasize the critical role of DCAs in maintaining engine efficiency, reducing emissions, and ensuring compliance with Euro 4 standards. This research underscores the importance of optimized fuel formulations and effective additive use in enhancing the performance and durability of modern diesel engines, supporting Indonesia’s efforts to reduce harmful emissions.
