Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) is a digital-based control monitoring technology used in industry automation to control variety of Mechanical Systems. In the Dynamics Laboratory, an Arduino based PLC was created for use in a practicum environment. Its purpose is for future Mechanical Engineers to be able to gain hands on experience and understanding of PLC technology that will be influential to the future of automation technology in Industry 4.0. To develop the PLC, this research is focused on improving the user friendliness of the PLC. It is hoped that the output of this research can improve ease of use, thereby accelerating learning experience for students. Furthermore, the ability to design a high quality and market ready PLC can push Indonesia’s independence to produce locally made products. . Through careful observation and study of the PLC, this research is focused on designing the following: single input to dual output power supply, casing that can protect the hardware from contact damage, and standalone file that can access the MATLAB based PLC programming software without needing to download MATLAB on the computer. With that, the design requirements and objectives (DR&O) was formulated. After this, the design and testing process can be conducted. If all the design prototypes fulfill the DR&O, then the research can be finalized. Through testing, it was found that the power supply produces 5 V and 24 V DC output from 220 VAC grid, the casing has good mobility and able to be handled with ease, and the standalone was able to function as it would in the MATLAB environment and produce a correctly converted ladder diagram program to Arduino Sketch file.
