Well M-19 is an offshore carbonate well in Indonesia that had previously undergone hydraulic fracturing;
however, the production increase was not sustained after the treatment. This study aims to redesign the
hydraulic fracturing treatment and analyze the sensitivity of proppant mass and size to fracture
performance, production improvement, and economic feasibility. The evaluated proppant masses were
20,000–70,000 lb, while the proppant sizes were 8/12, 12/18, 16/20, and 20/40 C-Lite. The analysis was
conducted using hydraulic fracturing simulation, nodal analysis, decline curve analysis, cumulative
production analysis, and economic evaluation. The results show that the optimum scenario was obtained
using 60,000 lb of 16/20 C-Lite, which increased the oil production rate from 163.762 STB/day to 527.850
STB/day, with an oil gain of 364.088 STB/day and cumulative production of 90,508 STB. Economically,
using an oil price of 60 USD/bbl, lifting oil cost of 25 USD/bbl, decline rate of 13% per month, and NPV
discount rate of 10%, this scenario generated the highest NPV of USD 1,947,453, IRR of 196%, and
payback period of 132 days. Therefore, 60,000 lb 16/20 C-Lite is selected as the optimum hydraulic
fracturing redesign scenario.
