The certification process for aircraft is a meticulous procedure aimed at ensuring the safety and reliability of a new aircraft type before it can be mass-produced. One of the primary aspects evaluated is the structural integrity, particularly the aft fuselage, which connects the aircraft's body to the vertical and horizontal tail planes. The Finite Element Method (FEM) is a valuable tool in supporting the structural assessment and optimization of the design. In this initial stage of model development, several simplifications are applied to streamline the computational process. These simplifications include converting the 3D model into shell elements and modeling fastener components into connector interactions. However, these simplifications must be calculated carefully to ensure the analysis results accurately represent real-world scenarios. This research focuses on the development of a finite element model for the aft fuselage structure, highlighting the methodology and considerations involved in maintaining analytical precision despite necessary model simplifications. In the final analysis, aspects that need further development in the existing model are identified and discussed.
