The flowrate in horizontal wells can vary significantly due to pressure losses or reservoir heterogenity. One challenge in horizontal wells is the "heel to toe effect", which causes uneven pressure drops along the wellbore, potentially leading to water and gas breakthrough. Water and gas breakthrough can cause decreased oil production because gas or water produced will reduce the volume of oil production in the wellbore. To address this issue, Inflow Control Device (ICD) are used to enhance oil production, minimize water production, and maintain uniform inflow across the reservoir in horizontal wells. This study will conduct development scenarios on the use of Inflow Control Device (ICD) based on permeability and water saturation parameters in horizontal wells using PETREL software. This study aims to determine the optimal number and placement of ICD installations to increase oil production and reduce water production.
