In this work, the ferrocene-encapsulated Znzeolitic imidazole framework (ZIF-8) was prepared by theself-assembly of Zn ions and 2-methylimidazole and used forthe dual detection of amyloid-beta oligomers (A?O), which isthe main neuropathological hallmark of Alzheimer’s disease.Ferrocene is an optically and electrochemically active signalwhich was successfully encapsulated inside of the ZIF-8 andreleased by the competitive coordination between Zn ions andA?O after being treated with A?O. The released ferrocenecontent was monitored by ultraviolet/visible spectrophotom-etry and cyclic voltammetry. The dual determination of A?Oplayed a synergetic role in the quick qualitative and precisequantitative analyses in a wide detection range of 10?5to 102?M and good feasibility in artificial cerebrospinalfluid
