The concern of discussing the militarism and its depictions in Turkish painting art is to analyze the dimensions and elements of military framework. By doing so, First and Second World Wars and all other total wars become a subject of painting art. First of all, the modern interpretation of artists until 1950s will be discussed in order to illustrate the relationship between militarism and nation-state building. Secondly, the contemporary interpretation of artists after 1980 will be discussed in order to assess the critical approaches towards militarism. Accordingly, one could realize the influence of art in depicting the military images and the influence of militarism inshaping the modern and contemporary painting art
