The gas industry starts to turn their attention to unconventional gas reservoir, such as gas shale reservoir. It becomes a major exploration target because of its gas storage properties and potential for large recoverable resource. In addition, the shale is not only acting as source rock but also acting as a reservoir too. This study focused on the analysis of fractures within shale gas reservoir of Baong Formation in Galena field, North Sumatra. Baong Formation has two shale layers with different geological structures. These shale layers are Upper Baong Shale and Lower Baong Shale separated by Middle Baong Sand (MBS) in between.
