Rectangular cross section nozzle is used nowadays because it has advantages in reducing jet heat signature and noise than axisymmetric/circular nozzle. Rectangular nozzle that is investigated, use Minimum Length Nozzle(MLN) in order to reduce dimension and weight of a nozzle. Modification on
MLN is done to reduce defficiency in standard MLN configuration.
Basic flow structure of modified MLN in rectangular cross section will be investigated here. In very over-expanded condition, there is a phenomena asymmetric separation. And through numerical simulation, it can be investigated that modified MLN has several advantages than standard MLN. And there is a trade off with less performance in rectangular nozzle compare to axisymmetric/circular nozzle.
