190 CHAPTER V. Discussion and Conclusion V. 1. Discussion of Hospital Research Results. The author highlights the practicality and adaptability of the EBITDAMAX model across varied hospital settings, emphasizing key operational and financial principles. Designed to suit hospitals of different sizes—urban general, large regional, and smaller community hospitals in Indonesia—it is grounded in the healthcare industry and considers ethical implications. Utilizing a cross-sectional approach, the research assesses the implementation of EBITDAMAX in diverse contexts, contributing to an ongoing improvement program that showcases the model's long-term benefits and resilience through SWOT analysis. Aimed at hospitals facing high operating costs and low patient satisfaction, EBITDAMAX seeks to enhance profitability via improved business processes. It introduces tools like the EBITDA Matrix, Capacity Matrix, and EBITDA Tree, focusing on essential performance indicators with EBITDA as the primary metric. In summary, the author argues that the EBITDAMAX model effectively addresses various inquiry characteristics through its flexible design and practical tools, thereby improving financial performance and operational efficiency in different hospital environments. The research findings in Chapter 4 reveal a crucial insight into EBITDAMAX in hospitals: its integration into both the General Management Business Process and the Clinical Pathway Business Process significantly enhances the translation of the Strategic Program into actionable business processes. This tool also facilitates the conversion of Strategic Targets into EBITDA across all areas of the organization. 191 Figure XXIV The Correlation between Strategy Clarity, Leadership, Organization Culture and Systems, EBITDAMAX, and Strategy Results in Hospitals. By streamlining operations, EBITDAMAX empowers leaders at both corporate and departmental levels to effectively implement strategy execution. This enhancement not only refines execution skills but also motivates leaders to foster a supportive corporate culture essential for successful execution. As shown in Figure XXIV, embracing EBITDAMAX enables leaders to drive cultural transformation and sustainable growth. The transformation powered by EBITDAMAX creates an environment conducive to improved performance and profitability. By aligning the hospital culture with strategic goals, EBITDAMAX reinforces the organization’s commitment to its objectives and highlights EBITDA as a key performance indicator. In General Management, assigning EBITDA targets to the operational team instills a sense of belonging and accountability, motivating active engagement with the strategic plan. In the Clinical Pathway Business Process, the EBITDA Matrix empowers physicians, granting them the autonomy to select clinical treatments that positively impact EBITDA within ethical healthcare standards.
