36 Chapter 4: Analysis 4.1 Overview of Data Collection Process The data collection process in this research involved distributing questionnaires to 16 organic employees of PT Ecodu who were directly invited to participate. These employees come from various divisions, ensuring a diverse perspective that reflects the overall conditions within the company. The questionnaire was designed to explore employee perceptions regarding the current traditional allowance system and the proposed token economy system, as well as their views on employee performance improvement in general. This approach was chosen to capture both existing experiences and future expectations related to allowance systems at PT Ecodu. To complement the questionnaire data, the researcher also conducted interviews with the CEO and CMO of PT Ecodu. These interviews provided valuable insights from management’s perspective, helping to understand the company’s strategic considerations, goals, and challenges in managing allowances and employee performance. The combination of questionnaire (quantitative) and interviews (qualitative) allows this research to adopt a mixed-method approach, providing a balanced understanding from both employee (bottom-up) and management (top-down) viewpoints. This comprehensive approach ensures that the analysis considers both operational realities and strategic direction at PT Ecodu. 4.2 Descriptive Data and Statement Composition The questionnaire distributed to PT Ecodu employees consisted of 82 statement questions, which were divided into three sections as follows: • Section 1: Traditional Allowances (Non-Token Economy) - 25 statement. • Section 2: Token Economy System - 32 statement. • Section 3: Employee Performance - 25 statement. 37 The Likert scale was applied to all statements, allowing employees to express their agreement or disagreement with each statement using the following scale: • Strongly Agree (5) • Agree (4) • Neutral (3) • Disagree (2) • Strongly Disagree (1) This structured format enabled the researcher to systematically capture employee perceptions and transform them into quantitative data for further analysis. In this study, the number of statements related to the Token Economy System (32 statements) is higher than those about the Traditional Allowance System (25 statements). This difference is intentional and reflects the exploratory nature of the token economy topic at PT Ecodu. The traditional allowance system has been in place for several years, meaning employees are already familiar with how it works. As a result, fewer statements were necessary to capture employee perceptions about the system, since their understanding is already well- established through direct experience. In contrast, the token economy system is a new concept for employees at PT Ecodu. The company has not yet implemented this system, so the questionnaire needed to first introduce its basic principles and mechanisms before asking for employee feedback. Therefore, more statements were included to explore employee understanding, acceptance, potential concerns, and expectations regarding this new system. The slightly larger number of statements related to the token economy also reflects the researcher’s effort to cover multiple dimensions—ranging from how tokens would be awarded, the types of behaviour that would be rewarded, how employees perceive the value of tokens, and how they compare tokens to existing allowances.
