204 Chapter V Research Discussion V.1 Introduction To examine the findings and place them in the context of the entire study, the discussion of this research is essential. It begins by summarizing the main conclusions of the study and connecting them to the original research questions. Secondly, it contextualizes the results. Returning to the literature review phase, this stage will entail examining how the findings align with earlier studies. Third, it explains the findings and offers a plausible explanation for their possible occurrence. Furthermore, an explanation will be provided if an unexpected outcome is important to the research issue. Fourth, the primary constraints will be examined. The most important discoveries and their ramifications are restated in this chapter. Explain why the research is important and remind readers of the connections it has to outside material, such as existing literature or an aspect of the field that is affected by the study. V.2 Key Findings This study has successfully developed a maturity framework for Hospital Supply Chain Management (HSCM) with four levels—1 to 4—across the dimensions of people, process, technology, and partnership. The research highlights that hospitals in West Java predominantly operate at the Intermediate level, characterized by basic integration of processes and limited adoption of advanced technologies. The study also revealed significant gaps in human resource capacity and the lack of collaboration with external stakeholders. These findings align with the research questions, particularly in conceptualizing maturity stages and identifying the current maturity level in the Indonesian hospital context. 205 Moreover, the simulation results demonstrated that gradual improvements in each dimension can substantially enhance hospital efficiency and service quality. Investments in technology and human resource development were identified as the most impactful levers for advancing maturity. This framework provides a systematic approach for hospitals to track and improve their supply chain maturity, offering practical solutions to enhance operational excellence. Specifically, research question 1 explores how a conceptual maturity model can be developed through systematic literature review and expert judgment. The maturity model established consists of four levels: foundational, developing, advanced, and optimized, structured around four core dimensions—people, process, technology, and partnership. Each dimension reflects incremental improvements across maturity levels. In the people aspect, progression ranges from basic skillsets (Level 1) to continuous improvement (Level 4), emphasizing the need for ongoing training and competency development.
