However, hospitals face significant challenges, including high inventory and logistics costs, drug shortages, difficulties in technology adoption, and regulatory compliance. These issues indicate gaps in HSCM maturity, particularly across people, processes, technology, and partnerships. Maturity, defined as the progressive advancement of capabilities, is crucial for achieving operational efficiency, optimal resource allocation, and high-quality patient care. This research conceptualizes maturity stages in HSCM, analyzes current maturity levels through case studies, and develops a System Dynamics (SD) model to identify improvement strategies. Adopting a pragmatist paradigm, the study focuses on practical solutions for real-world challenges. Research was conducted in hospitals across West Java, Indonesia, covering different accreditation levels (basic to full) and classifications (Types A–D). Data collection involved hospital consultants, procurement staff, system users (e.g., doctors, pharmacists), and HSCM experts. The methodology combined literature review, case studies, and SD simulation modeling to assess maturity levels and propose improvement strategies. The study introduced a four-stage maturity framework, evaluating hospitals across people, processes, technology, and partnerships. Findings from West Java hospitals highlighted opportunities for advancement through technology investments and workforce development. The SD model provided predictive insights, helping hospitals prioritize improvements and estimate the time required to reach the highest maturity level. This research delivers a strategic roadmap for enhancing HSCM maturity, equipping hospital managers with data-driven tools to optimize supply chain operations. By addressing critical gaps and fostering continuous improvement, hospitals can achieve greater efficiency, resilience, and service excellence.
