74 CHAPTER VI CONCLUSION VI.1 Conclusion The dynamic behavior of total waste generation in Bandung is highly influenced by the number of population. But the proportion of plastic waste in Bandung is not likely to grow higher year by year. The approximate proportion of plastic waste management is 10%. Therefore, if the amount of waste can be reduced, the amount of plastic waste will likely to reduce also. Regarding the research questions and objectives, the work and findings in this thesis can be summarized and concluded as followings: 1. The population growth and total waste generated in Bandung are two subsystems that hold major influence towards the amount of total plastic waste generated daily. The population growth that tends to increase every year, indirectly driven the increase of plastic consumption rate also. The more people living in one area, the greater the waste generated every day. Since the proportion of plastic waste is approximately around 10% of the total waste, therefore, the increasing of total waste generated will triggered the increasing of plastic waste generation rate also. 2. The source separation with collection scheduling for waste management is an excellent strategy to reduce the waste management budget. By handling the waste collecting system more systematic and specific to the public service, the recycling and remanufacturing process can be manage integrally. Therefore, source separation using scheduled collection is considered as the most suitable model for waste management improvement system in Bandung. 3. Scenario 2 considered as the most appropriate improvement to the plastic waste system improvement, therefore it is highly suggested that the local government will implement the source separation regulation to the public and also managing the collecting schedule by the public service sector. 75 However, the further research for advanced scheduling and transportation route can be conducted to provide broaden improvement of the system. VI.2 Direction for Further Research Due to the limitation of this research and the development of the systems and environments during the research is still conducting, therefore some further researches that can be done. 1. To meet the completion of integrated plastics waste management design, research about remanufactured logistics and waste management for plastics industries in Indonesia can be applied in further research. 2. The more specific sub systems of plastic waste management process will provide an excellent precision of total cost required and also the capacity planning for plastic recycle. 3. To provide the broaden view of waste management, the specific amount of households classes in Bandung should be considered so that the total retribution required can be predicted. 4. Conflict management need to be considered in further development of this system in order to managed the waste pickers’ coverage areas..
