111 Chapter V Quantitative Research Findings The next step in this dissertation is to conduct quantitative research using surveys. This step is part of the methodological design of this dissertation, namely Sequential exploratory from qualitative to quantitative. This survey aims to identify the transferability and generalizability of the initial exploration results carried out in action research activities at Bumdes MCS. The researcher wants to see whether the findings obtained in the action research on Bumdes MCS also occur in other Bumdes. Meanwhile, specifically in this dissertation, the quantitative research also aims to answer the second research question: "How effective is capital in the village in determining Bumde's social and economic performance?" In summary, the explanation in Chapter 5 will begin with identifying constructs, dimensions, and indicators obtained from the results of action research, preliminary studies, and literature reviews. Next, the researcher builds a research model from the existing constructs. This construct will be equipped with research instruments and continue with the development of hypotheses. Questionnaires designed and passed the pilot test are then distributed to the target respondents using a cluster sampling strategy. Hypothesis Development The next step is to build a research model construction with concepts obtained from the results of literature research, preliminary study, and action research. The concepts presented through the results of the previous analysis are village government support, Bumdes professionalism, and community participation which have an influence on the resilience of Bumdes. 112 Figure V- 1 Research Model and Hypothesis H1 : Village Head Commitment significantly influences Government Support. The village head, as an important figure in the village, is the main actor in running the village government. The qualitative results show that village heads who are committed to developing their villages have an important role to play in encouraging the village government to also support the programs that are being developed, including Bumdes. H2 : Village Head Commitment significantly influences Government Support. In addition to commitment, the capacity of the village head plays a very important role in encouraging village government support for various programs in the village. This capacity includes the village head's ability to utilize existing resources in his village to provide support for positive activities in his village. H3 : The leadership of Bumdes director significantly influences the Bumdes professionalism. The findings from the interviews and the action research results indicate that a Bumdes leader has a central role in Bumdes management. The criteria that must be possessed are openness, trust, and being proactive to improve the performance of the Bumdes they 113 lead. The criteria for Bumdes leaders are also listed in the general requirements in the regulations governing Bumdes. Bumdes leaders are also expected to have a good level of stewardship by showing totality in managing Bumdes and being willing to cooperate with any party in the village. H4 : The Bumdes competitiveness significantly influences the Bumdes professionalism. One of the challenges in managing Bumdes is managing the business units in Bumdes. Following the law's mandate, Bumdes is an economic organization that aims to encourage the use of assets in the village to become a productive economy and use public services. The things that came to the attention of the interview results were that Bumdes must run a business that follows the needs of the village community and village potential, Bumdes needs to invest in productive assets, make open accountability reports, be able to provide public services that cannot be done by other organizations and don't kill the businesses that are already in the village. H5 : The healthy democracy significantly influence community participation. Findings in a qualitative approach show that Bumdes's life emerged from a healthy village democratic process. This healthy democracy is marked by the opportunity to express opinions, openness to criticism, and the absence of differences in status in society. This will indicate good harmony between residents and ultimately encourage community participation in the development of the village. H6 : The social capital significantly influence community participation. The village's social capital is its most valuable asset for boosting spirit in places where residents suffer from climate change's effects and the absence of a strong administration (Bodorkós & Pataki, 2009). Strong social capital can lead to better prospects in life. Strong social capital will demonstrate that ties between village residents are very strong, as evidenced by deliberation during decision-making and cooperation during all group activities. This shows that the neighborhood still has faith in one another, which is anticipated to benefit village engagement. 114 H7 : The government support influence the Bumdes resilience. The Rural Act mandates that the establishment of Bumdes must go through a village meeting led by the village head. The role of the village head as a government representative is also clear in the Bumdes management structure, namely, as a supervisor. This shows that any support provided by the village government can provide an opportunity to increase the resilience of Bumdes. Village government support is also manifested in various activities in the community where the government is committed to supporting every positive activity in the village. H8 : The Bumdes professionalism influences the Bumdes resilience. The professionalism of Bumdes indicates that Bumdes is brought out its main duties and functions. Bumdes that are run always try to prioritize professionalism and reduce the role of politics in their activities. Another thing that shows professionalism is the openness and transparency of Bumdes's performance. H9 : The community participation influence the Bumdes resilience. Healthy democracy and strong social capital are the intentions of citizen participation in supporting activities in the village. Citizen participation indicates support for positive activities in the village. Community participation also indicates that the community is willing to support and assist in activities in the village. Quantitative Methodology A questionnaire was used in a survey to obtain data. By using random purposive sampling, respondents were chosen from Banten, West Java, and Central Java. These three areas were selected because they have a flourishing Bumdes community, have reasonable costs geographically, and share regional characteristics with the sources used in the basic study and action research.
