18 CHAPTER III RESEARCH METHODOLOGY The study that provides the background setting of this research is obtained by doing secondary analysis based on previous information gathering. Hakim (1982) defines secondary analysis as “any further analysis of an existing dataset which presents interpretations, conclusions or knowledge additional to, or different from, those presented in the first report on the inquiry as a whole and its main results”. Most research begins with an investigation to learn what is already known and what remains to be learned about a topic through reviewing secondary sources and investigations others have previously conducted in the specified area of interest. Secondary data analysis takes this one step further, including a review of previously collected data in the area of interest (Johnston, 2014). In simple terms, secondary data is every dataset not obtained by the author, or “the analysis of data gathered by someone else” (Boslaugh, 2007) to be more specific. Secondary data may include data that has been previously gathered and is under consideration to be reused for new questions, for which the data gathered was not originally intended (Vartanian, 2010). III.1 Research Design The research was conducted starting with the communication and establishing legal framework, continued communication and data gathering, intense interview sessions then concluded by using questionnaires distribution with scientific tools framework. As previously mentioned, the research was supported by the initial coaching program result provided by the company which guides the initial interviews to validate the assumptions. After collecting data from secondary sources, the initial data obtained then expanded and explored to be used as a basis for the structured and semi structured interview questions according to the direction of the research area. The interview done based on the secondary data was directed to dive deeper into the problems that surrounding the organization which leads into cultural problems. 19 The leads that arise from the interview are then complemented by the questionnaire distributed to targeted respondents using a scientific method to narrow down the focus and allow the researcher to find the amicable solution as the result of this research.
