63 Chapter V Conclusion V. 1 Conclusion In conclusion, this research has provided valuable insights into the shifting trends in house preferences in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. This research, which focused on millennials' shifting housing preferences, employed semi-structured interviews with nine respondents in Jakarta and its surrounding areas. The analysis of interview results followed a qualitative approach, involving the categorization of information and data using preset categories from Mulyano et al. (2019), while remaining open to additional insights from the respondents. The first research objective aimed to identify and analyze changes in house preferences and priorities post-pandemic. The findings revealed a heightened emphasis on internet connectivity, privacy, security, and the desire for increased time spent at home with family. Accessibility and public transport also gained significance. The second research objective delved into the factors influencing residential decision-making during and after the pandemic, highlighting the importance of home office spaces, outdoor amenities, and health and wellness features. The research revealed an increased investment in creating comfortable home environments, aligning with the 2022 findings of the Jakarta Property Institute. The third research objective assessed the implications of these shifting trends for stakeholders in the housing industry, including developers, architects, and policymakers. The research recommends that industry practitioners become more mindful about the living spaces they create to cater to a new generation of smarter home buyers, who are well-informed and technologically savvy. Design 64 considerations must align with the evolving preferences and demands of millennials, who seek homes that fulfill their unique needs and expectations. In the post-pandemic era, the housing industry must adapt and innovate to meet the demands of a discerning and well-informed millennial clientele, ensuring that residential development aligns with the shifting trends and priorities identified in this research. This research contributes valuable insights that can guide housing design and development strategies to better suit the needs of the evolving market.
