68 Chapter V Conclusions V.1 Conclusions The purpose of this study is to determine supplier selection criteria based on Industry 4.0 perspective. This study seeks to develop a comprehensive set of supplier selection criteria by soliciting expert opinions through a modified Delphi method and AHP method. Previous studies have increased understanding of common criteria and sub-criteria for selecting suppliers. These criteria are most often agreed upon among experts based on a literature review. Recently, new and additional issues related to the industrial 4.0 have emerged. This study used the modified Delphi method and AHP to determine supplier selection criteria and priority or ranking the criteria and sub-criteria in an Industry 4.0 perspective. Expert surveys are conducted to determine important criteria and sub-criteria. The evaluation criteria are first selected based on the results of the literature review, and then the modified Delphi survey chooses important criteria and sub-criteria, and then the results are classified hierarchically, grouped by similarity for AHP calculations. This study findings indicate that eight main criteria are important for selecting suppliers for downstream metal products, including economic, quality and services, employee capabilities, social, environment, technology, communication, and strategy and organization. Besides, there are 33 sub-criteria that are important to use in selecting suppliers. The weights of the criteria seem to indicate that experts recognize the importance of each criterion and sub-criterion. Among the eight criteria, quality and services (0.264), employee capabilities (0.234), and economic (0.188) are the top three main criteria. Experts seem less concerned about the criteria related to communication (only 0.034 or 3.4% by weight). But the criteria which are also strongly related to Industry 4.0 perspective such as technology have a sizable weight of 0.091 in the fourth rank. This shows that experts agree that the technology criteria that are closely related to Industry 4.0 perspective must be a concern in the selection of suppliers, especially in dealing with 69 current issues in the industrial revolution 4.0. The results of this study also indicate that the knowledge about ICT that sub-criteria under the employee capabilities criteria is the highest rank in the total sub-criteria with a weight of 0.1557. Knowledge about ICT is closely related to the ability of employees in Industry 4.0. That means the experts think that the ability of employees in the Industry 4.0 perspective represented by knowledge about ICT is very important in supplier selection. Price (0.1275, rank 2) and quality (0.0841, rank 3) are still important sub-criteria in supplier selection, according to previous studies. V.2 Contributions Overall, the findings of this study can contribute in determining supplier selection criteria and sub-criteria for supplier selection from the perspective of Industry 4.0.
