Korosi merupakan salah satu permasalahan di industri, khususnya industri perminyakan. Penggunaan senyawa inhibitor korosi merupakan salah satu alternatif untuk mencegah korosi. Senyawa turunan imidazol telah teruji dan dapat digunakan sebagai salah satu inhibitor korosi yang potensial. Senyawa ini memiliki aktivitad inhibisi korosi yang berbeda-beda bergantung pada strukturnya. Untuk memahami hubungan antara struktur dan aktivitas inhibisi korosinya, salah satu senyawa turunan imidazol disintesis, yaitu 2-(2-hidroksifenil)-4,5-difenilimidazol, disintesis menggunakan metode MAOS (Microwave Assisted Organic Synthesis). Aktivitas inhibisi korosi 2-(2-hidroksifenil)-4,5-difenilimidazol dipelajari pada berbagai konsentrasi dan suhu menggunakan metode Tafel dan EIS. Data hasil menunjukkan bahwa hubungan yang paling sesuai antara konsentrasi 2-(2-hidroksifenil)-4,5-difenilimidazol dan fraksi permukaan yang tertutupi, adalah adsorpsi isoterm Langmuir. Studi aktivitas inhibisi korosi pada berbagai konsenrasi dan suhu memberikan data termodinamika, seperti energi bebas Gibbs adsorpsi, sebesar -34,22 kJ/mol dan -32,99 kJ/mol, secara berturut-turut berdasarkan metode Tafel dan EIS, mengindikasikan bahwa mekanisme proses inhibisi korosi menggunakan 2-(2-hidroksifenil)-4,5-difenilimidazol adalah adsorpsi secara semi-kimia (semi-kemisorpsi).

Deskripsi Alternatif :

Corrosion is one of problems in industry, particularly petrochemical industry. Utilizing organic compounds is one of alternative ways to inhibit corrosion processes. Imidazole derivative compounds have been tested and used as one of potential corrosion inhibitors. These compounds have different corrosion inhibition activities depending on their structures. To understand the correlation between structure and its corrosion inhibition activities, one of imidazole derivative compounds, that is 2-(2-hidroxyphenyl)-4.5-diphenylimidazole, was synthesized utilizing MAOS (Microwave Assisted Organic Synthesis) method. The corrosion inhibition activities of 2-(2-hidroxyphenyl)-4.5-diphenylimidazole were studied at various concentrations and temperatures utilizing Tafel and EIS method. The resulting data confirmed that the most suitable relationship between concentration of 2-(2-hidroxyphenyl)-4.5-diphenylimidazole and its degree of surface coverage, is Langmuir isotherm adsorption. The study of corrosion inhibition activities at various concentrations and temperatures gives thermodynamics data, such as free Gibbs adsorption energy, which value is -34.22 kJ/mol and -32.99 kJ/mol, according to Tafel and EIS method respectively, indicating a semi-chemical adsorption (semi-chemisorption) mechanism of the corrosion inhibition process utilizing 2-(2-hidroxyphenyl)-4.5-diphenylimidazole.
