Membran mikrofiltrasi (MF) dan ultrafiltrasi (UF) jenis polisulfon (PSf) banyak digunakan dalam berbagai bidang diantaranya untuk pengolahan limbah industri. Untuk mendapatkan membran yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan aplikasi, dapat dilakukan modifikasi prapencetakan dan pascapencetakan. Pada penelitian ini telah dipelajari pengaruh jenis pelarut terhadap berbagai karakteristik membran polisulfon. Dua jenis pelarut yang diteliti adalah N,N- dimetil asetamida dan N-metil pirolidon (NMP). Membran jenis pertama yaitu PSf-DMAc dibuat dari polisulfon (PSf)/ polietilen glikol (PEG)/ DMAc 16/16/68 (% b/b) dan membran jenis kedua yaitu PSf-NMP dibuat dengan menggunakan pelarut NMP dengan komposisi yang sama. Pembuatan membran dilakukan dengan teknik inversi fasa dimana digunakan air sebagai nonpelarut.

Deskripsi Alternatif :

Microfiltration (MF) and ultrafiltration (UF) polysulfone (PSf) membranes have been widely used in various applications such as industrial wastewater treatment. In order to prepare tailor-made membranes, pre-casting and post-casting modifications can be done. The effects of different solvents on polysulfone membrane characteristics have been carried out in this work. Two types of solvents have been used, namely N,N-dimethylacetamide and N-methylpyrrolidone (NMP). The first type membranes, PSf-DMAc, were prepared by using a composition of polysulfone (PSf)/polyethylene glycol (PEG)/ DMAc 16/16/68 (%w/w) and the second type, PSf-NMP was made by using N-methyl pyrrolidone as solvent with the same composition as the first one. Membranes were made by phase inversion process using water as non-solvent. The characterizations of membranes comprised of determination of water flux, rejection coefficient, hydrophilicity, mechanical properties, thermal properties, degree of crystallinity, and analysis of membranes morphology.
