Suatu kajian tentang prakiraan fishing ground ikan tuna madidihang menggunakan citra satelit NOAA dan TOPEX dilakukan di perairan Selatan Jawa dan Barat Sumatra. Lokasi fishing ground ditentukan dari anomali muka laut terendah. Daerah dengan anomali muka laut terendah diindentifikasi sebagai daerah upwelling setelah dilakukan overlay antara temperatur upwelling dengan anomali muka laut terendah.




Data yang digunakan adalah data temperatur permukaan laut dari NOAA, data anomali muka laut dari TOPEX dan data penangkapan ikan tuna madidihang dari PT. Samudera Besar Jakarta tahun 1997 dan 1999. Hasil overlay anomali muka laut dengan daerah penangkapan tuna madidihang di perairan Selatan Jawa menunjukkan kecocokan yang baik.




Metoda yang sama diterapkan untuk memprediksi fishing ground di perairan Barat Sumatra. Bulan-bulan kelimpahan tuna madidihang ditentukan dengan cara overlay anomali muka laut dengan temperatur penangkapan tuna madidihang

Abstract:




Study on forecasting of yellowfin tuna fishing ground using NOAA and TOPEX satellite images was applied in Southern Java and Western Sumatra Waters. Fishing ground location is determined by the lowest sea level anomaly. The area with the lowest sea level anomaly is identified as upwelling area after overlaying upwelling temperature with the lowest sea level anomaly.




The data which were used are sea surface temperature from NOAA, sea level anomaly from TOPEX and yellowfin tuna catch from PT. Samudera Besar Jakarta in 1997 and 1999. The overlay result of sea level anomaly with tuna fishing ground in Southern Java Waters shown a good agreement.




The same method was applied to predict fishing ground in Western Sumatra Waters. The abundance months of yellowfin tuna is determined by overlaying sea level anomaly with temperature of yellowfin tuna catch
