Perencanaan desain casing, semen dan lumpur perlu dilakukan sebelum melakukan operasi pemboran suatu sumur. Hal ini dimaksudkan agar operasi pemboran menjadi efisien dan efektif. Tugas akhir ini melakukan evaluasi desain casing, semen, dan lumpur pemboran sumur Matoa-7R yang merupakan sumur pengganti dari sumur sebelumnya yaitu sumur Matoa-7 dimana komplesinya menggunakan pompa ESP (Electric Submersible Pump). Ketika pompa sedang diperbaiki ternyata pompa tidak bisa diambil dari dalam sumur sehingga dilakukan upaya fishing namun mengalami kegagalan. Kegagalan ini disebabkan karena sumur diperkirakan mengalami collapse pada kedalaman 6046 ft. Akhirnya sumur ini ditutup dan ditinggalkan. Dari hasil evaluasi diperkirakan sumur Matoa-7 masih memiliki potensi yang cukup besar. Oleh karena itu dilakukan pemboran sumur Matoa-7R yang berjarak 10 meter dari sumur tersebut.
Sumur Matoa-7R memiliki karakteristik temperatur tinggi (220 0F) dengan kedalaman 9650 ft. Untuk lebih meyakinkan hasil pemboran maka perlu dilakukan evalusi lumpur, semen, dan casing. Hasilnya kemudian dibandingkan dengan operasi pemboran yang dilakukan pada sumur tersebut. Dari hasil ini didapatkan suatu desain baru yang lebih baik sehingga dapat dijadikan dasar untuk pemboran sumur-sumur berikutnya.
Casing and cementing design as well as mud planning are required to be done prior to drilling a well. This concern is closely related to the success and attainment of effective and efficient drilling operation. The present final project examines those issues for Well Matoa-7R.
Well Matoa-7R is a substitution well for previous Well Matoa-7 that used to use an electric submersible pump (ESP). It was discovered that when the pump is needed to be repaired, it could not be pulled out of the hole even after a fishing job. This was because the well collapsed at a depth of 6046 ft. The well was then abandoned. Consequently, a well must be drilled near Matoa-7 since the well is believed to still have high potential of production. The substituted Well Matoa-7R was drilled at a location of only 10-meter away from Matoa-7.
Specific characteristic of Well Matoa-7R, e.g. high temperature (2200F) with total depth of 9650 ft, have challenged the operator to carefully plan the next drilling operations. Evaluation on casing and cementing design as well as mud planning of Well Matoa-7R is then essential. Results of this evaluation were compared to the actual drilling operation completed for Well Matoa-7R. New designs for the three issues were the final result of the present study
