Hermetia illucens (Diptera: Stratiomyidae) atau Black Soldier Fly merupakan salah satu agen biokonversi yang larvanya mampu mengurangi dan memanfaatkan limbah organik menjadi biomassa ataupun produk lain bernilai ekonomi tinggi. Salah satu limbah organik yang berpotensi untuk diolah kembali oleh larva H. illucens adalah kulit ari kedelai dari produksi tempe. Penelitian ini dirancang untuk melihat kemampuan larva H. illucens dalam mereduksi dan mengkonversi kulit ari kedelai berdasarkan pertumbuhan H. illucens, WRI (Waste Reduction Index), AD (Apprroximate Digestibility), ECI (Efficiency of Conversion Ingested Food), ECD (Efficiency of Conversion Digestive), serta analisis proksimat pupa H. illucens. Larva H. illucens hasil budidaya berumur 7 hari diberi pakan berupa kulit ari kedelai dengan 5 variasi laju pemberian pakan (200; 100; 50; 25; 12,5 mg/larva/hari). Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa larva yang diberi kulit ari kedelai 12,5 mg/larva/hari memiliki waktu pertumbuhan 36 hari untuk menjadi prepupa dengan biomassa prepupa akhir (33,9 mg ± 0,014), indeks WRI (2,35 ± 0,048), AD (86,06 ± 0,016), ECI (7,81 ± 0,004), dan nilai ECD tertinggi (9,09% ± 0,006). Analisis proksimat juga menunjukan bahwa kandungan protein dari pupa H. illucens yang pada saat larva diberi kulit ari kedelai sebesar 36,02%. Dari penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa H. illucens dapat mereduksi dan mengkonversi limbah kulit ari kedelai menjadi biomassa.

Hermetia illucens (Diptera: Stratiomyidae) or Black Soldier Fly is one of the bioconversion agent that capable to reduce and convert organic waste into larvae biomass and another product with high economic value. One kind of organic waste that has potential application such as bioconversion by BSF larvae is soybean husk from tempeh production. This study aim to determined the ability of BSF larvae in reducing and converting soybean husk through the growth of H. illucens, WRI (Waste Reduction Index), AD (Apprroximate Digestibility), ECI (Efficiency of Conversion Ingested Food), and ECD (Efficiency of Conversion Digestive), and proximate analysis H. illucens pupae. In this study, 7-days old larvae from cultivation were fed with soybean husk with 5 variations of feed rates (200; 100; 50; 25; 12,5 mg/larvae/day). Results shows that larvae with feeding rate of 12,5 mg/larvae/day had development time 36 days to become prepupae with the final prepupae biomass (33,9 mg ± 0,014), WRI (2,35 ± 0,049), AD (86,06 ± 0,016), ECI (7,81 ± 0,004), and highest ECD (9,09% ± 0,006). Proximate analysis shows that protein content pupae which during the larval phase was given soybean husk is 36,02%. From this study we can conclude that H. illucens can convert soybean husk into larvae biomass.
