Some types of cationic dyes subtances such as methylene blue, methyl violet, malachite green, and acridine orange has been used in establishing anionic surfactant of sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS), spectrophotometrically. Malachit green showed the best result, using chloroform as dilluent. Optimum conditions stated research for establishing of SDS as follows: maximum wavelength of absorption is 621 nm, range of pH 4-5, malachit green concentration is 1,5 x 10-3 M, rate of volume of organic phase with water phase is 1:10, rate of mole fraction between malachit green with SDS is 1:1 in one time extraction into chloroform, and concentration level of SDS accorded to Lambert Beer formulation is 2-8x10-7 M. This analytic method has been used on water of Cijalupang river and synthetic detergents (RINSO, DINO, SO KLIN) individually and their mixture, respectively. Precision of the method was presented with deviation standard for 11 times of replication, observation toward water of Cijalupang river, s=2,13 and aguaous solution of the three mixture types of the detergents, s=1,56. No constraints obtained from sulphate anion, but chlor and nitrate in concentration by 1 x 10-3 M.
