ABSTRAK:

Lambatnya pertumbuhan ekonomi setelah krisis ekonomi tahun 1997 dan 1998 serta mulai di intisnya langkah4angkah persiapan untuk menyongsong berlalcunya sistem pasar bebas di lingkungan regional maupun lingkungan global mengakibatkan kondisi persaingan usaha yang semakin ketat. Untuk mencapai keunggulan bersaing yang berkelanjutan, perusahaan dituntut untuk semakin proaktif di dalam menjalankan bisnisnya dan tidak hanya bersikap responsif terhadap perusahan-perubahan yang munc ul dari lingkungan eksternal maupun lingkungan internalnya. Perencanaan strategi merupakan salah satu alat bagi perusahaan untuk dapat merumuskan langkah-langkah proaktif didalam menjalankan bisnisnya.

PT Bosung Indonesia merupakan salah satu pabrik kemasan karton yang merupakan pemasok bagi industri-industri consumer goods. Mengingat kondisi persaingan industri kemasan yang tinggi dan masih terbatasnya tingkat produksi industri, ma.ka perusahaan perlu merumuskan strategi perusahaan sebagai alat untuk pencapaian visi dan misinya.

Penyusunan strategi perusahaan dilakukan melalui analisa kondisi lingkungan eksternal, analisa struktur industri dan analisa lingkungan internal perusahaan untuk mengidentifikasi kekuatan dan kelemahan utama yang dimiliki serta peluang dan ancaman utama yang dihadapi. Rumusan strategi perusahaan dilakukan melalui pemanfaatan kekuatan dan kelemahan perusahaan terhadap peluang dan ancaman yang aria.

Adapun metode pengembangan alternatif strategi yang dipakai adalah analisa Strategic Position and Action Evaluation (SPACE), analisa Threat, Opportunity, Weakness, and Strength (TOWS), serta analisa portofolio Internal Eksternal (IE).

ABSTRACT:

The slow economic growth as impact of the economy crisis in 1997 and 1998, and implementation of new regulation as free world trade preparation at both of regional and global environment, causes high business competition. Business companies must do its business in proactive ways more than just responsive ways to face external and internal environment changes to achieve sustainable competitive advantage. Strategic planning is one of company tools to formulate proactive actions of doing business.

Bosung Indonesia Corporation is one of packaging company which supplies consumer goods industries. As high competition of packaging industries and slow growth production of many industries, the company needs to formulate strategy to achieve its vision and mission. Strategy formulation is made through analysis of external environment, analysis of industry structure and analysis of internal environment to identify major of company strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Company strategy formulation is made by matching external and internal critical success factors.

Methods to developing strategy alternatives are Strategic Position and Action Evaluation (SPACE) analysis, Threat, Opportunity, Weakness, and Strength (TOWS) analysis, and Internal External (IE) portofolio analysis.
