A laboratory experiment on carp (Cyprinus car io given a shredded coconut mixed diet has been conducted. Carp aged 4 - 5 months (n = 50; weight = 24,46-25,78 g), were kept individually in each aquarium (50x30x30 cm). The waste shredded coconut was mixed with commercial fish feed. Five concentrations (w/w) of mixed diet were given as
treatment, i.e.: 30% (P3Q), 40% (P4a), 50% (Pso), and 60% (P6a). Controlled fish was only given commercial feed. The experiment was done within 10 weeks with five replicates. Fish were fed twice daily as much as 10% of body weight. Measurements on oxygen consumption rate and body weight were done weekly. The fish were kept from food for 24 hours prior to measurements. The hemoglobin concentration was measured at the beginning and at the end of the experiment only. ANOVA was used for statistical tests. Results showed that the oxygen consumption rate ofthe
treated fish was not different from the controlled fish. Relative growth rate decreased significantly. The average growth rate offish treated with P3o, P4o, P5o, P6Q, were respectively 0.042%, 0.041916, 0.031% and 0.018%. Growth rate ofcontrolled fish was 0.104%. There was no difference on the hemoglobin concentration measured at the end ofthe experiment (7.89 mg1dl) compared to the value at the start (7.91 mg1dl) of the experiment. It can be concluded that waste shredded coconut mixed diet might be used as fish feed. However, some improvements should be done on
the composition of nutrition in the diet to increase the fish growth rate.


Telah dilakukan percobaan di laboratorium terhadap Ikan mas (Cyprinus car io yang diberi pakan campuran ampas kelapa. Ikan mas yang berumur 4-5 bulan (n=50, berat = 24,46-25,78 g), dipelihara di setiap akuarium (50x30x30 cm) yang berisi satu ekor ikan. Ampas kelapa dicampurkan pada pakan ikan yang diperdagangkan. Campuran pakan yang diberikan sebagai perlakuan dibuat lima konsentrasi (b/b) yaitu: 30% (P3a), 40% (P4Q), 50% (PSQ), dan 60% (P6Q). Terhadap Ikan kontrol hanya diberi pakan yang diperdagangkan. Percobaan dilakukan selama 10 minggu dengan lima kali ulangan. Pakan diberikan dua kali sehari sebanyak 10% berat badan. Pengukuran konsumsi oksigen dan penimbangan berat badan dilakukan seminggu sekali setelah sebelumnya ikan dipuasakan selama 24 jam. Kadar hemoglobin (Hb) ikan diukur pada saat awal dan akhir percobaan. Uji statistik menggunakan Analisis Variansi (ANAVA). Hasil percobaan menunjukkan laju konsumsi oksigen pada ikan perlakuan tidak berbeda dengan ikan kontrol. Kecepatan pertumbuhan nisbi ikan menurun secara nyata, masing-masing pada Pig P4o, Pso, dan P6o rata-rata sebesar 0,042%, 0,041%, 0, 031 %, 0,018%, sedangkan pada ikan kontrol sebesar 0,104%. Kadar Hb ikan sesudah perlakuan (rata-rata = 7,89 mg/dl) tidak berbeda nyata dibandingkan dengan kadar Hb ikan saat awal (rata-rata 7,91 mg/dl). Berdasarkan hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahaa campuran pakan ikan dengan ampas kelapa dapat digunakan sebagai pakan ikan, namun perlakuan pada komposisi nutrisi pakan masih perlu dilakukan untuk meningkatkan laju tumbuh ikan.
