Rumah sakit sebagai sarana pelayanan kesehatan masyarakat, dapat memberikan dampak yang signifikan terhadap penurunan daya dukung lingkungan. Pencemar dalam air limbah akan berinteraksi dengan badan air penerima, sehingga menyebabkan penurunan kualitas badan air penerima dan dapat menimbulkan penyakit bawaan air. Sifat air limbah rumah sakit merupakan kombinasi dari air limbah domestik dan air limbah infeksius akibat kandungan mikroorganisme. RSUD Karawang yang direncanakan akan berkembang menjadi 646 tempat tidur, tentu akan menghasilkan air limbah yang cukup signifikan, baik dari segi kuantitas maupun kualitas. Pengukuran kuantitas air limbah dilakukan dengan melakukan proyeksi kapasitas tempat tidur, sedangkan pengukuran kualitas air limbah dilakukan di laboratorium.

Deskripsi Alternatif :

Hospital as a public health-care facilities, can provide a significant impact to the decline of environmental support ability. Pollutants in waste water will interact with the river, causing major decreased of river quality and causing waterborne disease. Characteristics of hospital waste water is a combination of domestic waste water and infectious waste water that caused by microorganism. RSUD Karawang which is planned to be developed into 646 bed, actually will certainly generate a significant waste water, both in terms of quantity and quality. Measurement of waste water quantity was done by projections of bed capacity, whereas measurement of waste water quality was done in laboratory.
