SPBU merupakan salah satu sarana umum yang memiliki peranan penting dalam kehidupan masyarakat sehari-hari. Namun, selain memiliki peranan penting, SPBU juga menimbulkan polusi udara akibat penguapan bensin yang terjadi pada tangki timbun maupun dispenser. Polusi udara tersebut dapat menimbulkan bahaya kebakaran, bahaya kesehatan, maupun kerugian ekonomi. Untuk itu, perlu dikembangkan sebuah sistem vapor recovery yang dapat mengurangi polusi udara sekaligus me-recover kehilangan akibat penguapan bensin yang tidak terkendali tersebut. Metodologi yang dilakukan untuk mengembangkan sistem vapor recovery tersebut adalah dengan melakukan studi literatur mengenai peralatan-peralatan di SPBU, teknologi membran, maupun sistem vapor recovery yang telah dikembangkan di luar negeri. Kemudian dilakukan pengujian dalam skala laboratorium untuk menentukan material membran yang paling sesuai digunakan pada pengembangan sistem vapor recovery. Selanjutnya, penulis mengembangkan dan membuat prototipe rancangan lalu mengujinya pada skala laboratorium untuk mengetahui kinerja serta efisiensinya. Prototipe yang telah dikembangkan terdiri dari modul membran menggunakan material PVA (polyvinyl alcohol), pompa vakum, casing, serta check valve. Hasil dari pengujian prototipe menunjukkan bahwa sistem dapat bekerja dengan baik dengan efisiensi sebesar 67.93%. Penulis mengharapkan agar prototipe tersebut dapat dikembangkan lebih lanjut lagi agar kelak dapat diaplikasikan di lapangan sehingga dapat mengurangi berbagai masalah yang terjadi akibat penguapan bensin di SPBU.

Deskripsi Alternatif :

Gas stations are one of the public facilities that have a major role for society in the daily life. Unfortunately, other than having a major role, gas station also creating air pollution caused by gasoline evaporation at the underground container and dispenser. The air pollution can cause danger of fire, hazardous environment for human health, and also financial loss. That is why it is needed to develop a vapor recovery system that can reduce the air pollution while recovering the loss caused by the uncontrollable gasoline evaporation. Methodology that was used to developed the vapor recovery system is by studying literature about equipments in the gas station, membrane technology, and also vapor recovery system that have been developed overseas. Next experiments were conducted on a laboratory scale to decide the suitable membrane material used for the development of vapor recovery system. Then writer developed and created design prototypes and then tests them on a laboratory scale to find out their performance and efficiency. The developed prototype consists of membrane module using PVA (polyvinyl alcohol) for the material, vacuum pump, casing, and check valve. The results from the experiment show that the system can perform well with 67.93% efficiency. Writer hopes that the prototype can be further developed thus in the future it can be implemented on the field so that it will decrease all the problem caused by the gasoline evaporation at the gas station.
