Minyak akar wangi merupakan produk unggulan nasional Indonesia yang saat ini menempati posisi tiga besar dunia namun memiliki nilai jual rendah karena mutu dan kualitas pengolahan masih tradisional. Destilasi uap dilakukan untuk mempelajari pengaruhnya terhadap karakteristik minyak akar wangi. Pasar internasional mensyaratkan khusimol sebagai parameter kualitas sehingga pengembangan metoda analisis khusimol mutlak diperlukan. Minyak akar wangi diproduksi dengan cara destilasi uap, minyak yang dihasilkan dianalisis karakteristiknya meliputi warna, bau dan berat jenis. Kadar khusimol ditentukan dengan GC-MS. Minyak difraksinasi dengan destilasi fraksinasi tekanan rendah dan bercaknya ditentukan dengan cara KLT. Destilasi uap menghasilkan minyak akar wangi dengan rendemen 0,7084% dengan warna merah kecoklatan jernih namun sedikit berbau arang. Berat jenis rata-rata 0,96132. Khusimol berada pada waktu retensi 27,815 menit dengan kadar 10,16%. Minyak akar wangi yang dihasilkan melalui destilasi uap memiliki kadar khusimol yang sesuai dengan standar ISO 4716/2002.

Deskripsi Alternatif :

Vetiver oil is national prime product of Indonesia which place in third entire the world but has low price because of it's low quality. Steam distillation has been done to study it's influence to the characteristic of vetiver oil. International market request khusimol as quality parameter of vetiver oil, so analytical method development of khusimol absolutely required. Vetiver oil has been isolated from drying roots of vetiver plant by steam distillation. Color, smell and density of this oil were examined. Khusimol was analyzed by GC-MS. The oil was distillated by fractional reduce pressure and it's spot was determined from each fraction by TLC. Vetiver oil was produced by Steam distillation obtained in 0,7084% yield which color is brown-red but have a little sandbar odor. Density was 0,96132. Khusimol has retention time at 27,815 minute and value was 10,16%. Vetiver oil which is produced by steam distillation has khusimol value that appropriate with ISO 4716/2002.
